WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Michael Rulli (OH-06) praised President Donald J. Trump’s State of the Union address, highlighting the progress made over the past year and announced plans to introduce a resolution censuring Rep. Al Green (TX-09) following his conduct during last night’s Joint Session of Congress.
Last night, President Trump outlined his Administration’s work successfully lowering costs for families, securing the border, restoring American energy dominance, strengthening our military, and rebuilding pride in our nation. Over the past year, House Republicans have worked in tandem with President Trump to advance policies that put working Americans first and deliver real results for communities like those across Eastern Ohio.
“Tonight’s address made one thing clear, America is back. We are cutting taxes for hard working families, standing up for American manufacturing and energy, securing our border, and restoring strength at home and abroad. The people of Ohio’s 6th District want safety, affordability, and opportunity, and that is exactly what we are fighting for.” said Congressman Rulli.
Rulli emphasized that families throughout the Ohio Valley are already seeing progress. Pro-growth policies are creating new investment, supporting small businesses, and helping manufacturers expand. Efforts to secure the border and stop the flow of fentanyl remain a top priority, especially for communities that have suffered the consequences ofBiden-era open-border policies.
During the address, Representative Al Green was removed from the House chamber for disruptive conduct that violated long‑standing rules of House decorum. Green has now been removed from two consecutive State of the Union addresses for similar behavior.
Congressman Rulli announced he will be introducing a resolution to formally censure Rep. Green, reaffirming the House’s responsibility to maintain order and uphold the integrity of Congress. See the story from Fox News here.
“His shenanigans at the State of the Union were uncalled for,” Rulli said on Wednesday. “We can’t really put up with that kind of conduct in Congress. Something had to be done.” Rulli added “I’m looking for as many co-sponsors from our conference as possible. And I’m reaching across the aisle for anyone over there that was embarrassed by their own guy.”
Rulli concluded by reaffirming his commitment to bring the voices of Ohio’s 6th District to Washington and continue advancing policies that strengthen families, protect communities, and expand opportunity for every citizen of the United States.
